Where appropriate similar paddocks (soil, climate and crops) can be grouped as well as Similar crops. OverseerFM identifies categories of crops that can be grouped due to similarities - see Crop types in OverseerFM

The model includes your defined cultivation practice in the month of sowing, so only enter a cultivation event if cultivation occurs in any month other than that month.

Avoid using non-farm animals for defoliation as model makes a large number of assumptions about those animals. If known set up the animals as an enterprise on the farm.
How to add crops:
1. From within the Pasture/Crops tab, scroll down to your crop blocks and click +Enter Crop Details
2. Specify the percentage of land use area within the crop block (percentage of cultivated area, headlands and tracks and other areas).
3. Select the crop rotation final month from the drop down.
4. Specify the Block History.
5. To initialise the model, events occurring the year before the reporting year must also be entered, hence the crop rotation page captures crop activity over a two year period. All management activities an events occurring during the reporting year and year 1 are recorded month by month using the crop rotation table. The table uses icons to depict the sequence of events.
To enter an activity, select the + on month required. Only one event can be entered per month.
- All crops sown should be entered, providing all of the required Crop Details information:
- Alternate Crop Name can be entered which will override the Crop Type selected. This new name will be displayed in the crop model.
- When Grain, Seed, Green vegetables, Legume Vegetables and Other Vegetables have been selected as a category, the Residual Management Method must be selected.
- Seed also requires further information on Month Seed Harvested and Defoliation Management.
- When Permanent Pasture has been selected as a category, Defoliation Management must be selected.
- When Root vegetables has been selected as a category, Residual Management Method and Months After Initial Harvest Crop Removed must be selected.
- When stock is grazing a crop this is entered as a defoliation. The months the crop is grazed should be selected. In the final defoliation month, ensure final Harvest is selected.

7. Once you have finished enter information for each event, click Done.
8. Once information has been entered, it can be edited by selecting the event and selecting Edit sown. A crop or any management activity can be deleted by selecting the event and selecting Delete.
9. If you crop's Final Event was a defoliation (grazed in-situ or cut and carry), you will need to enter final defilation event details, you can also add extra defoliations as necessary.
10. Once you have added all crops for the two year rotation, click Save in the bottom right-hand corner to save your crop rotation.
Fertiliser and Irrigation inputs are entered into the crop rotation via the Fertiliser and Irrigation input tab.
