OverseerFM release version 6.5.13 (flexible milking & chemical mitigation of effluent methane)

We released an update to OverseerFM on 17 May 2026. 

The update of the Overseer model to release version 6.5.13 includes two significant feature updates:

  • The full release of Chemical Mitigation of Effluent Methane (known to the market as EcoPond). You can read more about this here. 
    Those users who wish, can also access the peer reviewed science report into the integration of this new technology into the Overseer model here.
  • Support for flexible milking strategies. Overseer is now able to represent more flexible approaches to milking frequency, as detailed here. 

The release also addresses two minor issues identified through internal review. 

Details of the changes made to the model can be reviewed in the attached release notes. 

 

To complement the release notes, users can also find attached two additional documents: 

  • Overseer Model Update 6.5.13 - Full Impact Assessment. 
    This document presents the impact of version 6.5.13 on modelled nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and greenhouse gas (GHG) results, evaluated across the full OverseerFM production database.
  • Overseer Model Performance Assessment 6.5.13.
    This document compares model results against measured leaching data from farmlet trials used in prior validation work. This work provides an assessment for both the pasture model and crop modelling.
