Nutrient budgeting has become an essential tool for many farmers in New Zealand in both farm and environmental management. 
The development and ongoing improvement of the OVERSEER® nutrient budgeting programme provides a powerful modelling tool for farmers and rural professionals to use for nutrient budgeting.

This paper shares experiences and learnings in Canterbury from a regional council perspective, with an emphasis on an integrated approach that includes nutrient budgeting and other tools that contribute to better environment management.
