The aim of the reported study was to examine N inputs and losses (particularly by nitrate leaching) from grazed dairy pasture, as affected by N fertiliser application.
At the time of this study there have been no measurements of the effects of intensive dairy farming systems in New Zealand on several key N transformations and losses concomitantly, either in the absence or presence of N fertiliser use.
