With the launch of the MPI Grass-Fed Administrative Standards in June 2025 OverseerFM has moved on from the the old draft AsureQuality Grass-Fed Standard and now uses the terms of the MPI dairy and red meat standards to report on grass-fed status.
The MPI standards are legally recognised administrative standards to give exporters and local brands a single, defensible definition of “grass-fed”, and OverseerFM can help demonstrate if farms are meeting the definitions.
The term “grass-fed” has a connotation of animals with daily access to pasture year-round; the standards promote this whilst recognising that animal welfare is a priority and consideration must be given to environmental factors.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the terms of the standards are well represented within the software. Further information about the standard, and its implementation into Overseer can be found here. Queries about the standard, and certification options should be addressed to MPI.

*Cereal grain crops are considered to be part of a grass-fed diet only when they are in their pre-dough stage i.e. have not yet produced hardened grains or the grains have been harvested (removed so not available for consumption). This means that unlike the previously published AsureQuality Grass-Fed Standard maize silage is NOT a grass-fed feed.
If your 'grass fed' supplement is not in OverseerFM, please select the supplement with the supplement with the closest characteristics (crude protein or N content).
NB. Custom user-defined supplements can not be defined as "Grass fed".
