Publications provide a way of sharing an analysis with another organisation, such as your bank, milk company, regional council etc in a "read only" form.
This could be used to:
- submit an analysis to a regional council as part of a resource consent application or reporting requirement
- submit an analysis to a processor or irrigation scheme as part of a reporting process
- submit an analysis to a Farm Group
- submit an analysis to Publication reporting
- submit a part of an application for sustainable finance
- save an analysis at a particular point in time for internal record keeping
The introduction of the "Lock" function has changed the nature of what is available to view in a publication. Prior to this (pre-Feb 2026) a publication was an Overview screen, where the data you have entered is summarised and represented alongside results.
With the introduction of the "lock" function, this has changed, so that recipients of Publications can now VIEW all input data within a publication, but not make any changes:
Each of the data tabs is very clearly marked with a padlock icon to demonstrate that the publication is locked and read-only. The information in the publication cannot be altered or changed in any way by the organisation you have published to.
What happens if an analysis is updated? If a User changes an analysis, by updating or changing the data after the creation of a publication, the publication remains the same (it does not automatically update).
What happens when the Overseer Model is updated? When the Overseer model is updated, the publication will automatically update so the results are showing the most recent model version.
