The type of fruit, yield and management of sward must be entered for each fruit block.
The following diagram depicts what parts of the model the pasture information entered in OverseerFM impacts. For a full interactive view of the scientific model in its entirety please click here
Fruit works in a similar way to crops. The type of fruit and yield is used to estimate nutrient uptake by the trees and hence estimate nutrient in product and residue. Sward may provide pasture to animals and hence nutrient intake and excreta.
The entered yield minus the reject rate is multiplied by the dry matter content (for that fruit) to generate DM yield. This is used to estimate nutrient content using the nutrient concentrations of product, prunings, frame and leaves set for the type of fruit.
If animals graze the sward under the trees, this should be set up under sward management. If the grazing animals belong to an enterprise, then this can be configured under animal distribution or the model will default (animals and timing) based on feed requirements.
